Children of God
Romans 8:14-17 The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them. The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear. The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, “Abba, Father.” And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children. If we are God’s children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory.
How secure are you in your relationship with God? What do you believe that He’s going to do on that occasion when you’ve failed Him one time too often? Boot you out of His Kingdom? What?
Just imagine as a child or a teenager, being kicked out of home. Tragically, it happens, but for 99.9% of parents doing something like that would be totally inconceivable.
And yet so many people who believe in Jesus, live with a nagging suspicion, that because of their sin, because they seem constantly to fail God, that He’s going to kick them out of the Kingdom. And so what we do, is we work harder and harder at pleasing God, only to discover that the harder you work at it, the more you seem to fail.
It’s true, isn’t it?
But one of the reasons that God puts His Holy Spirit into each man, woman and child who believes in Jesus is this:
Romans 8:14-17 The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them. The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear. The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, “Abba, Father.” And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children. If we are God’s children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory.
Be certain of this. If you believe in Jesus then you are a child of God. He is your Father. He’s never going to kick you out!
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
