Completely Alone
2 Corinthians 5:21 Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could be right with God.
Have you ever felt completely alone? You know, when you’re hurting, aching and nothing anyone can say or do makes any difference. It’s a black hole, and in that hole, you’re completely alone.
I try to imagine sometimes what it was like for Jesus when they crucified Him. For all eternity He’d been in perfect, loving relationship with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. He became a man, did amazing things – taught amazing things, loved the rejects and healed the diseased.
And then it came time for Him to do the most important thing that He’d come to do, to take my sin and your sin upon His shoulders, take it and pay for it by being nailed to that Cross.
And at that time of pain and rejection, they all deserted Him. All His friends and disciples fled. He hung on that Cross, completely alone. Even separated from God the Father and the Spirit by my sin and yours.
I just can’t imagine … Why?
2 Corinthians 5:21 Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could be right with God.
He did it all so that we could be made right with God. He did it all so that we could become, as it says in this verse, in the original Greek in which it was written, so that we could become the righteousness of God.
What does that mean? It means that if you believe in Jesus and what He did for you then when you stand before God, you stand before Him as clean and as pure as Jesus Himself. It was to achieve that glorious, wonderous outcome – that Jesus died for you.
He became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Audrey, of course the truth is that we aren’t worthy, neither you nor I. And yet while we were still sinners Christ died for us. That’s mercy. That’s grace. Mercy is only mercy, and grace is only grace, if they are undeserved. That’s the Good news of God’s love for us in Christ. Your brother in Him, Berni

I do often feel alone. You have helped me look at Christ’s crucifixion a different way. I often do think about how he suffered- whipped, bullied, tormented, nails into his hands and feet, hanging and then to have his side pierced. That was horrible. When I sit and truly think about the pain he went through for me, I cry.. I do not think I’m worthy of how he felt and what he went through. God help me to be a better Christian! Thank you, Berni and God bless you this day and always! Happy Easter! He has risen!
