Do You Expect God to Bless You?
Matthew 7:7-11 Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them. “Do any of you have a son? If he asked for bread, would you give him a rock? Or if he asked for a fish, would you give him a snake? Of course not! You people are so bad, but you still know how to give good things to your children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.
God’s blessing … what does that look like in your life? Do you feel abundantly blessed? Or does God not seem to be upholding His end of the bargain in that department?
Let me ask you, what do you believe that God really wants to do in your life? Do you believe that He wants to bless you or not? And if so, what does that blessing look like?
I’ve met people who believe that God wants to bless them with wealth and riches – people who earnestly pray for a big car and a big house and a big bank balance.
And I’ve also met people who believe that God will never bless them because … well … He never has, so obviously He never will. But what do you believe?
Personally, I believe what Jesus said, and Jesus said this:
Matthew 7:7-11 Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them. “Do any of you have a son? If he asked for bread, would you give him a rock? Or if he asked for a fish, would you give him a snake? Of course not! You people are so bad, but you still know how to give good things to your children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.
Just like any great father, God is into giving good gifts, good things to us. Now not everything we ask Him for is going to be good for us which is why He only gives us the good stuff.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
