Don’t Give Up

Galatians 6:8-9 If you live to satisfy your sinful self, the harvest you will get from that will be eternal death. But if you live to please the Spirit, your harvest from the Spirit will be eternal life. We must not get tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up.

Things can be going along just fine, but then all of a sudden, the pressure’s on. And that’s the time, when we’re under pressure, that we discover what’s really going on in our hearts.

Have you ever been caught in traffic, and you change lanes without really looking? The car behind you slams on its brakes and blows its horn. And the easiest thing of all for you to do, is to blow your own horn back at them, shake your fist, let out a few choice expletives. Oh! It’s been a long day. I’m running late. The traffic’s terrible. Just cut me some slack here you idiot.

We’ve all been there – the constant grind. The pressure is on. You’re getting weary, and it’s all just too hard. It’s time to start acting up. It’s time to start reacting. It’s time to tell that idiot exactly what you think.

Reality check. You see, this is exactly the time – when things are tough, when the pressure is on – that’s exactly the time to remember who you really are.

There’s a clear choice here – satisfy your sinful self and reap death, or just keep on patiently plugging away, doing good – and you will reap the harvest of eternal life. When? At the right time! At harvest time!

Harvest time is surely coming. In the meantime, when you’re under pressure, when you’re tempted to act up, just keep on doing good. Don’t give up.
