Forget About Everything, Except …

1 Corinthians 2:1,2 Dear brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I told you the secret truth of God. But I did not use fancy words or great wisdom. I decided that while I was with you, I would forget about everything except Jesus Christ and his death on the cross.

You have a lot going on in your life right now, no doubt. Happy things, sad things; good things, bad things; relaxing things, stressful things … all of which occupy your waking hours – until one day, you don’t wake up.

I have friends who wonder why I do what I do. They don’t say much, but you can see them thinking, “Why does a guy like you pack in his rather lucrative IT consulting career to push religion down people’s throats?”

Well, I’m not particularly “religious” and hopefully I don’t push anything down anyone’s throat. But it does beg the question … why do I do what I do?

It comes down to this: that so many people in this world are struggling in life, so many are devoid of hope, so many are hurtling towards an eternity separated from God – when all along, His incredible, glorious, wonderous love for each one of us is ready to embrace them.

I feel a lot like the Apostle Paul, who wrote this to his friends at the church in Corinth back in the 1st Century:

1 Corinthians 2:1,2 Dear brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I told you the secret truth of God. But I did not use fancy words or great wisdom. I decided that while I was with you, I would forget about everything except Jesus Christ and his death on the cross.

Amidst all the stuff you have going on in your life, let’s forget everything for a moment, let’s lay it all aside … except for the enormity of God’s love for you through Jesus Christ and His death on the cross.

This moment, every moment – that’s how much God loves you.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
