God is Good

Psalm 86:5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. (ESV)

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to lose sight of the truly important things in life when you’re pedalling so hard just to make it through each day? That’s why, every now and then, we need a gentle reminder of what’s really important.

I have a wonderful wife. Jacqui has a real servant heart. Couple that with her amazing creativity, and her knitting of sweaters for family, making of birthday cakes for grandchildren … on and on …  and she loves me so much.

Now, I live a pretty hectic life. Don’t get me wrong – I love what I do – but they’re long hours with many complex issues to deal with in our ministry around the world. So it’s easy to get distracted, to lose sight of just how much Jacqui loves me. And that’s a dangerous thing.

How much easier is it then for us to lose sight of God’s love – a love so great that Jesus gave His life that we might have a rich, powerful, dynamic relationship with Him?

So, just in case this is something you need today, here it is, the reminder I mentioned earlier:

Psalm 86:5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. (ESV)

Friend, God is good all the time. No matter what you’ve done, He will always, always forgive you – that’s why Jesus died, to pay for your sin so that you could be forgiven. And His unshakeable love for you overflows out of His heart 24/7, from now into all eternity.

All you have to do is call on Him and He will pour His goodness, His forgiveness, His abundant, steadfast love out over you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
