God is In Your Midst
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (ESV)
Right or wrong, people do bad things to us. Right or wrong, bad stuff happens. Right or wrong (and, let’s face it, more wrong than right) we don’t always react that well you and I, do we?
The pressures of day-today life mount up. Whether it’s busy, busy, busy, or loneliness with not enough going on, those pressures often cause us to do more wrong than right.
Why is that? Why do they bring out the worst in us? I’m not sure I can answer that, but what I do know is that when we try to deal with them on our own, they just do.
So, here’s some good news. Even when you’ve blown it, even when you’ve done wrong, God wants to be part of your life.
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (ESV)
God is in our midst, right here in the midst of our troubles, right here in the midst of our failures … and He is mighty to save. In fact He longs to save you, He will save you, so much so, that He’ll rejoice over you in gladness.
Think about that. God rejoicing over you, exulting over you not just with singing but with loud singing … over you!
But the bit in this that really gets me? He will quiet you by His love. Amidst all that turmoil, amidst your regret over your failures, His love will be a balm to your spirit; His love will still you and give you peace.
Never forget, the Lord your God is in your midst!
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
