He’s Coming To Take You Home
John 14:1-3 Jesus said, "Don't be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am.
Without hope, life simply isn’t worth living. Think about it, if you don’t have something good to look forward to, what’s the point in going on?
Some days, it’s difficult to stay focussed on the end game. On those days when life’s scary, when we feel threatened, or tired or lonely or worn out … right there in that place, man it’s hard to find the faith you thought you once had, to get you through.
Of course, there’s nothing new in any of that. You and I aren’t the first people to feel that way. In fact, that’s precisely how Jesus’ disciples felt, when He was about to be crucified. So, what did Jesus say to them? What did Jesus choose to speak into their hearts, when they were in that place?
John 14:1-3 Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. A friend of mine is close to dying of cancer right now. How difficult must it be, to find your faith in that place? And yet, that’s the place the disciples were in. They were afraid for their very lives.
And Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid because just at the right time, I’m coming to bring you home.”
Whatever you end up facing in this life, however scary it may be, remember, Jesus has already gone ahead, to prepare your place in His Father’s house. Trust in Him.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
