How High? How Far?

Psalm 103:11,12 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. (ESV)

Life has a habit of … I don’t know … chipping away at your faith. Those bumps and bruises, the stresses and strains, the muck that life throws at you have a way of drawing your gaze off Jesus to focus on the problems close at hand.

You’ve experienced that too, right? Sure, you know that God loves you enough to send Jesus to die for you. But life’s tough. There’s a rough and tumble some days, a drudgery other days … hey, even some tantalising temptations out there, all of which conspire to draw your gaze away from the wondrous love of God.

It’s time to pause, time to refocus, time to allow God the Holy Spirit to draw our gaze back to Him.

Psalm 103:11,12 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. (ESV)

How great is God’s steadfast love toward you? As high as the heavens. If you took off from this earth on a rocket ship up into the heavens, barring a highly unlikely cosmic collision, you would never come to the end of the heavens. That’s how high. That’s how great is His unfailing love towards you.

How far has He removed your sin, your ugly transgressions, from you? Well, you head east and I’ll head west and let’s see if and when we ever meet again. No matter what life throws at you, never lose sight of God’s infinite love for you. Never forget the terrible price He paid to remove your transgressions completely and utterly from you.

You are loved infinitely, you are forgiven completely … through Jesus.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
