Joyful Jesus (1)

Hebrews 12:2 We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.

If I were to ask you, “Do you want to experience joy in your life?” … you know, a real, deep, abiding sense of joy …  I think it’d be pretty safe to assume that your answer would be a resounding “Yes!”

But too often we make the mistake of confusing this most preciouscommodity of joy with happiness. Do you want to be happy? Of course, but we both know that things are going to come along to rob us of that happiness.

And so when we start chatting about joy, be honest … that same assumption comes into play. Yes, I want to be filled with joy, but I know it’ll disappear when things turn bad. Fair enough.

Yet when we know that there’s a joy coming down the road, headed straight for us, that makes a huge difference to those yucky bits of life that we might be travelling through at the moment.

Isn’t that amazing?! The deep shame and pain of His crucifixion was as nothing to Jesus because He knew what was coming next. And when we, when you, keep looking to Jesus, you know that you know that you know that one day you’ll be with Him in glory forever. That’s huge.

Never give up. Never lose sight of Jesus … who did it all for you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
