Plans that Succeed

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

One of the most frustrating things in the world is when you have a plan, a good plan, to do something, good, and it just doesn’t work out!

We all have hopes and dreams and plans, don’t we? I certainly do, and one of the things that can get us down from time to time, is wondering whether we’ll ever see them come to fruition. In fact, not so much wondering, but worrying.

A while back I discovered a powerful truth about how to make my plans successful, in that allegedly stuffy old book they call “the Bible”. Now, it turns out that it’s not so stuffy after all. In fact, the Word of God is the power to change our lives. Anyhow, that powerful truth that I discovered is basically this:

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

But here’s the thing. Whenever I commit my plans to God, when I hand them over to Him, you know what He does? He inevitably changes them. And, come on, we don’t much like it when someone else comes along and changes our plans. After all, our plans are our plans. We want to do it our way.

But as stubborn and pigheaded as certainly I can be, time and time again, I’ve discovered that God’s ways are always better than mine. He sees the whole picture, past, present, future as well as all those other things out there that we aren’t aware of.

Not only that, but He loves us beyond words. Why wouldn’t His plans be better than ours? Are we really so short-sighted, so pigheaded that we’d rather do it our way than the best way?

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
