Spend it Wisely
Ephesians 5:15-17 So be very careful how you live. Live wisely, not like fools. I mean that you should use every opportunity you have for doing good, because these are evil times. So don’t be foolish with your lives, but learn what the Lord wants you to do.
I don’t know about you, but every now and then I stop to think about how long I have left on this earth. Perhaps it’s just my grey hair but, young or old, we have no idea when our time will be up. So, how are you going to spend yours?
When you think about it, time is the only currency that you spend without knowing your balance. Yet so many fritter it away on useless things. Some spend countless hours each week doom-scrolling through social media.
I met one couple recently who’d booked a 169 night world cruise. Okay, there’s nothing wrong with cruising per se, but these people are so vibrant, they have so much to offer. Is that really the best way to spend a good chunk of the time that remains?
It seems to me a good thing to do to ask ourselves ‘what do I want to do with my remaining time?’ What impact do I want to have? What people do I want to love, to help, to nurture? And how do I balance that with rest and recreation that we all need?
Ephesians 5:15-17 So be very careful how you live. Live wisely, not like fools. I mean that you should use every opportunity you have for doing good, because these are evil times. So don’t be foolish with your lives, but learn what the Lord wants you to do.
What’s God saying to you today in your situation, in your context? What does it mean for you to live wisely, not foolishly? What opportunities do you have for doing good in these evil times? Come on, what is God saying to you?
Don’t be foolish with your life, but learn what the Lord wants you to do.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
