Sure, Some Days Will be Scary

Isaiah 41:9,10 You were in a faraway country, but I reached out to you. I called you from that faraway place. I said, ‘You are my servant.’ I chose you, and I have not rejected you. Don’t worry—I am with you. Don’t be afraid—I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory.

Like it or not, some days in life are going to be scary. Maybe we don’t want to think about that too much, or talk about it too much, but it’s true. Some days, life is going to be scary.

Have you ever had that sense that God’s abandoned you? You’re pedalling so hard uphill, into the wind and the driving rain. Pedalling, pedalling … harder and harder.

Then one day you look up and God is nowhere to be seen. And all the while the storm clouds are thickening and … well, you’ve got the picture, right. You know what I’m talking about because you’ve been there.

But when the whole world seems to be lined up against you, here’s the rub: God is still God. He still loves you. There’s no need to panic, no need to be afraid. He’s right there with you, closer than the deepest secret of your heart. He will strengthen you, He will help you, He will uphold you with His victorious right hand.

Perhaps you’re thinking to yourself, “Now why should I believe that? How can I believe that?” Fair enough. But don’t just believe it because you heard me say it. Believe it because that’s what God is speaking into your heart today.

Whatever you have going on in your life right now, God has it all under control.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
