The Best Plan

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (ESV)

Each one of us, at some point – at many points, in fact – faces turmoil in our lives. Things don’t turn out how we’d planned. Or out of the blue, they take a sharp turn for the worse. Not nice, is it?

Over the last few days we’ve been chatting about finding ourselves amidst turmoil, and if I can sum things up it would go something like this: Stuff happens. Worry and fear well up inside. But in the midst of it, God wants us to know that He’s still in control and that He will never forsake us. In short, He wants us to experience His peace in the middle of the storm.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (ESV)

I came across this recently – I’ve no idea who wrote it, but it really struck a chord:

I think eventually you come to a point in your life where you’ve seen God come through so many times, in so many different ways, that when your plans fail, or a door closes, or a person walks away, you are completely at peace knowing that He has never let you down, that He will never let you down and what He has planned next will always be better than what’s behind.

I couldn’t agree more. God knows the plans He has for you, plans for your welfare and not for evil, to give you a future with hope.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
