The Change You’re Looking For

Romans 12:2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

One of my favourite local cafes is actually part of a luxury car show room. And as I sit there from time to time drinking my coffee, I often wonder to myself how many people have come in here just for a coffee and left having purchased a brand, new, shiny, very expensive car?

When you watch the ads on television and you think about logic that sits behind them, they are, by and large, all about transformation.

Whether it’s beauty or weight loss or a new car, new clothes, or whatever, the central brand promise is a new you, a transformed life, if only you’ll buy whatever it is that they’re peddling.

But whatever you spend your hard-earned cash on, hoping that it’ll change your life – well, you know the problem, don’t you? The transformation never lasts. Pretty soon it’s back to business as usual. But the transformation that God promises comes from all that He’s already done for you – the forgiveness that you have because of what Jesus did for you on that cross, and the new life that you have through His resurrection.

And when we sacrifice our very lives to that truth, you and I, all of a sudden we break the old mould and become the person God always meant for us to be.

Romans 12:2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

The key to the transformation that we’re all looking for is letting God change us from the inside out and in doing that, all of a sudden our hearts will be open to receive the real life-transformation that He has ready and waiting for us.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
