The Lost Cat

Luke 15:24 My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!’ So they began to have a party.

Might I ask you today how close, how intimate, how real is your relationship with God? And if, in your heart of hearts, you know that it’s not what it should be, what are you going to do about it?

The other day the unthinkable happened. Our family cat went missing. We were devastated. She was so much part of our family.

Four long days went by … when all of a sudden, she reappeared. I can tell you, when I laid eyes on her I was just over the moon. My heart wanted to explode … over a cat, for crying out loud!

So just imagine then how God feels when we come back to Him again. Imagine what goes on in His heart when just one of us comes home.

For years I thought that if I turned back to God, I’d be in serious trouble! In my heart of hearts, I knew that I’d been living a life that God would have some serious problems with.

Jesus told a whole story about that … the story of the prodigal son. The punchline for me is the dad’s reaction to the son who returned.

Luke 15:24
My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!’ So they began to have a party.

This lad had squandered his father’s money, slept with prostitutes … and yet when he returned, Dad threw a party!

But you see … that’s the love of a Father. All those years when I was too afraid to go back, He was yearning for me to return.

Wherever you’re at … if you’ve never, ever gone to Him before, if you’ve perhaps drifted off or wandered off, or just given up the habit of praying … don’t wait one more day.

He’s yearning to have you back.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Love the story of the returning son who was welcomed home by his father. It reminds me so much of my children growing into adulthood and that they would all return to our father with their families we love so much.
