The Rulers Losing Their Power
1 Corinthians 2:6 We teach wisdom to people who are mature, but the wisdom we teach is not from this world. It is not the wisdom of the rulers of this world, who are losing their power.
If you look around the world, there are more than a few despots ruling over nations, dictating how people should live and what they should believe. It’s not nice.
But that despotism can be much closer to home than you might imagine. Even if, like me, you happen to live in relative freedom, you’re more and more being told what you should be thinking and believing … and woe to anyone who speaks out against it.
In my very own country, a genuine democracy, there are some things that I believe with all my heart that I cannot speak out on-air, for fear that the radio station could have its license suspended.
And these unspeakables aren’t by any means radical or audacious – indeed, they shaped the very fabric of social thought and belief not too many years ago. Whatever system of government you happen to live under (and remember, this message will be going global today), the further our society drifts from the love of God – the further we drift from the love of God – the more perverted our so-called wisdom becomes.
But that’s not by any means a new thing. Here’s the Apostle Paul writing about this same issue, 2,000 odd years ago.
1 Corinthians 2:6 We teach wisdom to people who are mature, but the wisdom we teach is not from this world. It is not the wisdom of the rulers of this world, who are losing their power.
Friend, even as we speak, the power of those who seek to dictate our thoughts and beliefs is passing away. Don’t be afraid to allow God’s wisdom – the wisdom that’s not from this world – to fill your heart so you can live your life in the victory of His love.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
