This is What We Pray (2)
Colossians 1:9-10 That God will make you completely sure of what he wants by giving you all the wisdom and spiritual understanding you need; that this will help you live in a way that brings honour to the Lord and pleases him in every way; that your life will produce good works of every kind and that you will grow in your knowledge of God.

The difference between right and wrong, good and bad … it’s pretty clearcut, right? Sure it is … until life gets complicated; until things get messy; until the lines get blurred and all of a sudden you’re not sure anymore as to which direction you should be heading.
Come on, be honest. When things get complicated, messy, uncertain in your life, it feels as though it’s only you. Everyone else seems to be having plain sailing, it’s just my life that’s a mess. Now that’s simply not true, but that’s how it feels.
And it’s in that place that we often make bad choices under duress, with our vision clouded. When was the last time you found yourself in that place? And with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, what decisions did you make back then that you ultimately came to regret?
Picking up on the Apostle Paul’s prayer for his friends in Colossae that we started to look at yesterday, let’s see if we can find a remedy that’ll stop us from making those bad choices next time we’re in that place. This is what he prayed …
It’s funny how clarity returns when you pray. All of a sudden you’re grounded again. All of a sudden you’re certain again what God wants of you. All of a sudden … your life again starts to produce good works of every kind as you grow in your knowledge of God.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
