Three Blind Mice

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything.

Have you ever wondered to yourself, How come that person could see the things I couldn’t see? Why couldn’t I see them? What’s the matter with me? That’s not at all uncommon. We come off feeling so inadequate. But what if that’s the way it was always meant to be?

Some years ago, two colleagues and I kicked off a new business venture. It was really quite exciting … but what was interesting was the different roles we each played.

Keith was the one who had the vision to get it going. He’s the sort of guy who often sees things that the rest of us don’t see. When he first shared the idea with me, I couldn’t see it. In fact, it took me quite a while.

The other partner – Glenn – he’s so good at organising events, perceiving the things needed to make it all come together and then doing them. He saw things I didn’t see.

Me … I’m the guy who wrote and delivered the coaching content that was needed and I drove the project hard so that it moved forward in the right direction. The other two guys often couldn’t quite see my bit of the puzzle either.

In fact, it’s as though each one of us on our own was one of the three blind mice. It wasn’t until we got together that we could see the whole picture.

And I suspect that that’s the way God always meant for it to be. Think about it.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything.

None of us can do it all on our own

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
