Today is the Day

1 John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life, but whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

As we live life not thinking all that much about the deeper things, just making it through day by day, it’s not uncommon for an uneasy feeling to creep up on us. A feeling that’s difficult to put into words.

There are times when we feel like we’re not really living our lives to the full.  The humdrum of life keeps beating us over the head and somewhere inside there’s a dull ache, or an emptiness, or perhaps a better way of describing it is that sense that there must be more to life than this, surely!

We think it’s just us, but actually it happens to all of us along the way. For me it happens occasionally when the rigours of travelling long distances and hopping time zones catch up with me.

And that emptiness inside is a terrible feeling. Terrible.

1 John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life, but whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

That is so incredibly true. When you’re in a close, intimate relationship with Jesus, the life just seems to spring out of you. When you’ve drifted apart from Him, even the best of days feels lifeless.

So if you have the sense that out there somewhere there’s a life worth living, but something … something is missing, then today I’m here to tell you what that something is.

It’s Jesus. Plain and simple. Jesus.

So if perhaps you’ve drifted away from Jesus, know this. He is closer to you now than even the deepest secret of your heart!

Today is the day to pause and spend some time in unhurried prayer. Today is the day to open the Bible and hear Him speak words of power and encouragement, comfort and consolation into your heart.

Today is the day.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
