What’s God Up To?
Leviticus 26:11,12 Also, I will place my Holy Tent among you. I will not turn away from you. I will walk with you and be your God. And you will be my people.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes as I’m head down doing the things I have to do, you start wondering what it’s all about? Is there any meaning to it all? Where’s it all headed? And in any case, why did God put me on this journey exactly?
Have you ever wondered, if God is God, if He made you, me and the while universe, why did He do it? What was He up to?
Towards the beginning of the Bible, He actually tells us:
Leviticus 26:11,12 Also, I will place my Holy Tent among you. I will not turn away from you. I will walk with you and be your God. And you will be my people.
There it is right there, the deep desire of God … to be our God, for us to be His people and for Him to walk in our midst. In other words, God created us to be close to Him.
And that’s something you see echoed right throughout His Word … right to the very end, when He gives us a glimpse of what’s waiting for anyone who believes in His Son Jesus.
Revelation 21:3 I heard a loud voice from the throne. It said, “Now God’s home is with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them and will be their God.
Friend, that’s how it ends. The heart-cry of God to be our God, for us to be His people, to be close to one another, that deep desire of His is fulfilled.
And everything in between? History? Our own lives? They’re all part of that great journey from God’s plan to its fulfilment.
What a plan! What a journey! What an ending!
I will be your God, and you, you will be my people and I will dwell in your midst.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
