When You’re Eating Dust
Psalm 119:25 My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word. (NRSV)
When was the last time you experienced that sense of hopelessness? It wasn’t pretty was it? But you see, right in the middle of that, God has already given you something that can breathe hope back into your heart.
There are few statements in the Bible, more devastatingly hopeless than this one:
Psalm 119:25 My soul clings to the dust …
It’s a picture that each one of us can relate to. We’ve all been there. That sense of hopelessness. That sense that there’s just nothing left in the tank, nowhere left to turn.
I’m not suggesting that our lives are always in a mess. But some days, you know, it’s like eating dust. Dry. Empty. Hopeless.
What you need at that point, certainly what I need, is something to breathe life back into you. Something to fill up your tank; to give you energy; to bring you hope. Because on those days, it even feels like God’s a million miles away.
Where do you find that something? Well, let me give you the whole of that same verse:
Psalm 119:25 My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word. (NRSV)
The best place to turn, is into God’s Word. Because through it, He will breathe life and hope and resolve back into your heart.
As I look back over this last quarter of a century walking with Jesus, many has been the time when my soul has clung to the dust. And I know from experience, that our natural reaction at that point is to want to curl up in a ball and be consumed by the fear; devastated by what’s going on.
But right in that place, right in that moment, God wants to revive you.
Open your Bible. Let Him speak His comfort and His power into your heart. Just do it.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thanks for your encouragement, I lost my job after being in the same job for over 10 years in October last year. I had no idea what was going to happen next like my soul was clinging to the dust but God has revived me and stretched my finances in ways I could not have imagined. Thank you for Fresh and the word.
