Why Did God Rest?
Genesis 1:31-3 God looked at everything he had made. And he saw that everything was very good. There was evening, and then there was morning. This was the sixth day. So the earth, the sky, and everything in them were finished. God finished the work he was doing, so on the seventh day he rested from his work. God blessed the seventh day and made it a holy day. He made it special because on that day he rested from all the work he did while creating the world.
So how often to you stop from everything you’re doing, just to take a break and enjoy what all that you’ve accomplished? Hmm?
One of the things we all need in our often hectic and challenging lives, is rest. Rest from our labours. Rest from the cares of this world. Rest from all the things competing for our ever more precious attention span.

I’ve always found it fascinating that even God rested! When you think about it, that’s kind of weird, because if God is God, surely He didn’t get tired. Can you imagine God dozing off in the afternoon with a whole universe to run? What a silly idea! But if that’s so, why then, did God rest from His labours on the seventh day?
Well, He saw everything that He’d made, the whole cosmos, He looked at it and concluded that “it was very good.” It seems that the reason God rested, was to enjoy His creation.
And as much as you and I need a rest sometimes because we’re tired, every day in fact, we also need to rest, to take a break, to enjoy what we’ve done. Without that, what’s the point?
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Resting in God, enjoying Him, has everything to do with eliminating stress from our lives. 🙂

Thank you for your message, Yes & as God rested on that seventh day he commanded us to do the same. Ex 20: 9 & 10 and even in the heaven one day we still will keep the Sabbath Isa 66 :3. – it’s only man that has changed Gods ,laws and times’ and that to was predicted Daniel 7:25, and expanded on in Rev 13. This is the reason God told us to ‘Remember’ the Sabbath day.
