Your Passion, Your Calling

John 15:16 You did not choose me. I chose you. And I gave you this work: to go and produce fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you anything you ask for in my name.

I wonder if you’ve ever thought of yourself as being in the fruit business as someone whose job it is to bear, produce and distribute good fruit – because if you’re a follower of Jesus, that’s exactly the business you’re in.

The thing about you is that you are so wonderfully unique. Amongst the more than 8 billion people on the planet right now, not to mention all those who’ve gone before and those who’ll come along after you, there has been, is, and never will be anyone like you.

What an amazing thought to drop into your head and turn over in your mind. You are absolutely a one-of-a-kind! Which means that you have things that you’re passionate about that may not even enter my mind; things that you’re capable of that the rest of us never will be.

And if you believe in Jesus, know this:

John 15:16 You did not choose me. I chose you. And I gave you this work: to go and produce fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you anything you ask for in my name.

Full-well knowing who you are, what you’re passionate about and what you’re not, Jesus chose you – yes, you! And He’s given you this work: that you go and produce fruit, fruit that will last. Praise God that the fruit that you produce will be entirely different to the fruit that I produce. So the things that you’re passionate about aren’t random, they’re your calling. When you pursue those passions in the name of Jesus, for His glory, then guess what?

You’re out there producing eternal fruit in your own life and the lives of others. That’s exactly how it’s meant to work.

And that’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
