Your Reward for Doing Right
Psalm 18:20-21 The LORD rewarded me for doing what is right. He was good to me because I am innocent. The LORD did this because I have obeyed him. I have not turned against my God.

Doing what we know to be right sounds easy enough. But if we’re honest with ourselves, it can be seriously challenging some days … especially when the pressure’s on and then, some idiot messes with you.
I don’t know how it is for you, but I have a lot going on. So the stupidity of other people, they’re lack of consideration, their failure to, let me be frank about it, dance to my tune can, if I’ll allow it to be, be a trigger that sets me off. How about you?
Some people react by lashing out, by seeking revenge. Others do that whole passive aggressive thing, which in many cases is even worse because it stews within, feeding their bitterness. Is this striking a chord with you? I suspect so, because we’ve all been there.
As had David of Israel before he became king, when his predecessor Saul tried on a number of occasions to kill him. Talk about messing with someone, hunting them down to take their life is about as bad as it gets.
Yet there was something inside David, that stopped him from reacting, from retaliating, from taking Saul’s life on at least two occasions when he had the opportunity.
Looking back, reflecting on all that, David came to this conclusion:
Psalm 18:20-21 The LORD rewarded me for doing what is right. He was good to me because I am innocent. The LORD did this because I have obeyed him. I have not turned against my God.
No, doing what’s right isn’t always easy but it carries with it such great reward. No matter how pressured you feel, no matter how badly people mess with you, always do what’s right.
Because the Lord will reward you for doing what is right!
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
