Your Strength Comes from God

Psalm 62:10,11 Don’t trust in your power to take things by force. Don’t think you will gain anything by stealing. And if you become wealthy, don’t put your trust in riches. God says there is one thing you can really depend on, and I believe it: “Strength comes from God!”

There are times in life when no matter how hard we try, how much energy and dedication we throw at something, things just don’t seem to come together. There’s no clear way through. And that … that’s when we end up doing really dumb things. Really.

So, you’ve been beating your head up against a brick wall trying to get through something, trying to make your result happen, but it just ain’t happening. So, what do you do?

Well, some of us just keep on beating our head against that same brick wall as though that’s going to change anything. It’s a pretty stupid thing to do, but we’ve all done it, right?

And other times, we decide to take matters into our own hands. We just roll over the top of the people around us – to hell with those relationships! It’s frightening to think we ever think that way … but we do. Or maybe a bit of dishonesty will do the trick. I’ll cut a few corners here. I’ll tell a white lie there.

Some people have money to throw at the problem, so they do. The possibilities are endless. We just want that breakthrough! We want what we want! As I said, we do some really dumb things.

But what of the alternative? Believe it or not, there is one … and it’s much better than we may have thought:

Psalm 62:10,11 Don’t trust in your power to take things by force. Don’t think you will gain anything by stealing. And if you become wealthy, don’t put your trust in riches. God says there is one thing you can really depend on, and I believe it: “Strength comes from God!”

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
