You’ve Been Chosen

1 Corinthians 1:2 To God’s church in Corinth, you who have been made holy because you belong to Christ Jesus. You were chosen to be God’s holy people together with all people everywhere who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours.

I wonder what it must be like for a sports man or woman to be chosen to represent their country in an international competition. The honour, the privilege. Amazing!

Perhaps you’ve been chosen to receive an honour like that, or, like me … maybe not. Most of us are just anonymous individuals known by a close circle of family, friends and colleagues and (let’s be honest) often ignored by all and sundry.

Perhaps that’s why so many crave significance, yet few ever find it. It’s kind of tragic, because when you get talking to just about anybody, you dig below the surface and you discover an amazing individual with a history, a background, that more often than not amazes you.

Of course, God doesn’t need to get talking to us to discover that. He already knows. And you, in His eyes, are extremely significant; so significant that He sent Jesus to die for you, so that you could be with Him from now into eternity.

And if that’s a message that resonates with you, if you believe it with all your heart, then know this:

1 Corinthians 1:2 … you who have been made holy because you belong to Christ Jesus. You were chosen to be God’s holy people together with all people everywhere who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours.

Did you pick it? You have been chosen by Him to be one of His holy people, set apart for a special purpose; to be part of His family; to represent Him in this lost and hurting world. Friend, you were chosen to be one of God’s holy people.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
