A Fresh Start

2 Corinthians 5:17 When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!

Living life is great, it’s awesome, it’s exciting, but sometimes, just living life can get you down. It causes us to drop our gaze. It causes us to forget what it is that Jesus came to give us.

One of the things that I like to do at this time of the year is to wipe the slate clean, because I don’t know about you, I made some mistakes last year. Mistakes have consequences, and I don’t want to relive those consequences over and over again.

And yet sadly, what so many people do is that they carry over their regrets from the past, week to week, month to month, and indeed, year to year.

Why carry forward all this rubbish from the past? If you’ve made a mistake, do your best to fix it … and learn from it … and move on. Repeating the same mistakes over and over again, after all, is just crazy.

One of the great blessings that comes with the forgiveness, God’s forgiveness, the forgiveness that anyone who believes in Jesus has, is that you don’t have to keep living in the mistakes and the regrets of the past. Each day, each month, each year … is a fresh start.

How do I know that? Let me take you to one of my favourite verses of scripture.

2 Corinthians 5:17 When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!

The reason it’s a favourite, the reason I keep coming back to it in my own life, is that it speaks God’s truth into my reality in such an incredibly powerful way. We so readily lose sight of who we are in Christ.

You have a whole new life waiting for you. Live it!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
