A Lifeline from God

1 Thessalonians 5:11 So encourage each other and help each other grow stronger in faith, just as you are already doing.

Just imagine with me today, that there are people all around you, hiding behind the face they put on, who in point of fact desperately need just a bit of encouragement. Imagine.

I recently had the occasion to send out an SMS to a bunch of Christianityworks’ ministry friends in Australia. This is what it said: As we head towards the weekend, I just felt a nudge in my spirit to ask you, who does God want you to reach out to with a kind word of encouragement over these next couple of days? What a joy it is to share His love! Bless ya heaps, Berni

To which many people replied, but this SMS from Diane really stood out, really touched my heart:

Berni, I have been crushed in my spirit for quite some time and then you have just thrown me a lifeline by texting that God had nudged you to get in touch with me to encourage someone, as I thought God had abandoned me! Thank you very Much. Diane.

Now, when I sent that message, I never imagined for a moment that it would be a lifeline to anyone … after all, I was asking them to encourage someone else. But there you go; God had a different plan. This woman was crushed in her spirit, and God used that simple little message to speak to her in a way that I’d never intended.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 So encourage each other and help each other grow stronger in faith, just as you are already doing.

When you reach out with a word of encouragement, honestly, you have no idea how powerfully God might use that touch a life with His love. Your word of encouragement today, could well be someone’s lifeline from God.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
