A Stern Warning

Acts 4:12 esus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!

I’ll tell what really scares me: people who’ve convinced themselves that because they’re a pretty good person, living their lives based on “Christian principles”, they’ll be just fine when it comes to Judgement Day. That seriously scares me!

Why so? Here it is:

Acts 4:12 Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!

That’s the heart of the Gospel message. It’s the heart of what Christianity is all about: Not that you can be saved from the coming judgement and wrath of God by living a good life: Not that you can get a free pass to heaven, escaping the eternal torment of hell by living your life on Christian principles:

But that you can only be saved by putting your trust in Jesus who died on that Cross to pay for your sins, and rose again to give you a new life in relationship with God – a relationship that will grow infinitely better when you pass from this life to the next.

Too many people are sitting on the fence when it comes to trusting Jesus. And that seriously scares me. As well-known American country singer Johnny Cash put it, “I’ve learned that there’s no fence to sit on between heaven and hell.”

Friend, I’m bringing you a stern warning today. Your life, your eternity, hangs in the balance. Goodness and “Christian principles” will not – listen to me, will not! – cut it on Judgement Day. Only a deep faith in what Jesus did for you, a faith made real through a life lived for Christ, can save you. Sitting on the fence never will.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
