An Abhorrent Concept
Romans 10:9 If you openly say, āJesus is Lordā and believe in your heart that God raised him from death, you will be saved.
In this day and age, no matter what system of government we happen to live under, our desire is to be free; to have self-determination; not to have others tell us what to do.
That desire for freedom, Iām pretty sure, is an innately human trait. So the idea of having someone lord it over you is, by and large, an abhorrent concept to most. And yet, Godās Word says this:
Romans 10:9 If you openly say, āJesus is Lordā and believe in your heart that God raised him from death, you will be saved.
And of course, itās not just about saying āJesus is Lordā, itās about believing it deep in your heart, accepting Him as your Lord, living out your life as though thatās true. Itās about having a deep, lasting commitment to the lordship of Christ in your life, to His complete authority over you.
Little wonder that those who donāt believe in Jesus, and sadly many who do, find that abhorrent. But the great paradox is that when we do accept Him as the absolute Lord over our lives, then and only then are we set free. Then and only then are we saved from the sin thatās plagued our lives, thatās robbed us of the freedom weāve always yearned for.
Might I ask you, where are you at in accepting the Lordship of Christ over your life? Because many believe, but few submit. Many profess themselves to be Christians yet refuse to accept Godās Word as the truth and to obey it.
If (and only if) you openly say, āJesus is Lordā and believe in your heart that God raised him from death, you will be saved.
Thatās His Word. Fresh ā¦ for you ā¦ today.
