When You’re In Trouble

Psalm 138:7,8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. ESV

There are times in our lives when the ability to stand confidently on the promises of God is truly important. I mean, it’s always important but never more so than in times of trouble.

When was the last time trouble confronted you, hit you head on? Distress, adversity, affliction, anguish, tribulation … call it what you will, trouble tends to rock your faith to the core, to shake your trust in God.  It’s a very natural reaction, in fact.

That’s why, in times of trouble, being able to stand confidently on the promises of God is even more important than at other times. And here’s the confidence that one man, King David of Israel, had in God based on surviving more troubles than most:

Psalm 138:7,8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. ESV

Can I ask you a question? Where’s David today? Well, he’s not here. Eventually he died, as do we all. God has a time and a purpose for that, both for you and for me.

But if you look at David’s life, time and time again God gave Him the wisdom, the guidance, the confidence and the provision to survive his times of trouble.

So, between now and when He calls you home, just at the right time, God will stretch out His hand to deliver you from your trouble. His steadfast love for you endures forever. He will not forsake the work of His hands.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
