By the Grace of God

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Christ who knew no sin [judicially] to become sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]. (AMP)

So many things in this life seem to demand so much hard work. Good marriages don’t just happen – they require effort. Bringing up children requires a lot of effort. Career advancement requires … well, you get the picture, right?

I wonder, how are you feeling right now about all the things in your life that require hard work day after day? It can be a real slog. And on top of all that, if you’re a Jesus-follower, even He promised that living our lives for Him would be hard work.

Sensational! Another thing to deal with, which has us asking … How am I doing in my walk with Jesus? Am I meeting His expectations? What if, in the end, I’m not good enough?

God knows you have a lot going on. He understands all the pressures you’re under. But the biggest of them all – Am I really good enough? – is one that He’s completely removed from you. He’s taken that huge load, the one with eternal ramifications, completely off your shoulders and placed it on the shoulders of Another.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Christ who knew no sin [judicially] to become sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]. (AMP)

Or, as A.W. Tozer put it, “The only sin Jesus ever had was ours. And the only righteousness we can ever have is His.”

You and I, in our own right, will never be good enough. But when we believe in Jesus … we already are. That’s grace.

And that’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
