Claustrophobia

Colossians 4:2 Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful.

Have you ever felt locked into a situation or a set of circumstances to the point where it feels as though there’s no escape? You’re completely at the end of your tether, and you’re wondering “how am I ever going to get out of here?”

Some years ago, I had a pinched nerve in my neck. It was absolute consuming agony for weeks on end, so they sent me for a CT scan. Now, not only did my head have to go inside one of those big, whirring machines, but they put a metal plate over my face only a half inch from my nose. I couldn’t see a thing.

It was meant to last for about twenty minutes, and whilst I’m not generally claustrophobic, about a minute into it I could feel the panic rising up. I was in agony; I was locked into this darkness and I was panicking. What was I going to do?

Then, a gentle, soft voice … pray. So I closed my eyes to block out the source of my irrational but very real fear, and I prayed. I asked God the Holy Spirit to fill me with His peace. I thanked Him that He was right there with me in that place. And very quickly, the panic evaporated.

I can’t tell you that I enjoyed the rest of what followed, but I made it through.

Colossians 4:2 Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful.

There are going to be times when we’re locked into a small dark place and we can’t see our way out of it. There are going to be times when we’re scared out of our wits.

But friend, listen to me … God is there in that place with you. So …

Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Had a similar experience, I prayed as I go through the river you say be with me, the water shall not overcome me, and through the fire of suffering and persecution the flame shall not kindle my body, thanked the LORD for being with me and was at peace and got through it.
Thank you LORD for always being there for us all when we need you, always, Amen.
