Dear God

2 Chronicles 7:14 … and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.

When things aren’t going right in life, when we’ve tried to fix them, but we just can’t, something has to change. And the best way to make that change happen, is to ask God to make it happen. Seriously.

If you’re sick of making the same mistakes over and over again, if you know something has to change, but try as you might you haven’t been able to make that change, then I want to invite you to pray this prayer with me right now:

Dear God, here I am at the beginning of a new year and I know something has to change. I don’t want to have another year like the last one. I don’t want to make the same mistakes I made last year … and the year before that.

So I’m starting this year the way I always knew I should. I want to say sorry for all my mistakes, and I know that because Jesus died for me to pay for those mistakes, you will forgive me. Please forgive me in Jesus’ name.

And I know that I just don’t have the power to change. Oh, I can make some tweaks here and there, but I’ve been around the same mountain so many times now that I know I don’t have the power. So fill me with Your Power. Fill me with Your Spirit. Take my life in Your hands. I give it all to you. Use me as You will. Lead me where You will. I’m yours. Through Jesus. Amen.

And here’s God’s promise to you:

2 Chronicles 7:14 … and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
