Don’t be Fooled
Matthew 24:5 Many people will come and use my name. They will say, ‘I am the Messiah.’ And they will fool many people.
Christianity has a funny way of getting up people’s noses, in the pluralistic world in which we live nowadays. So we get to thinking that perhaps … well, maybe we are being too hard. Maybe we need to soften the message a bit.
Let’s face it: a lot of the things that God has to say are rather inconvenient. So the easiest thing to do, is to remake God in our image, to tame Him, to cut Him down to size, to get Him to fit with the way we want to live.
These days, there’s a lot of morphing in what people think the Bible is meant to say. And amazingly, it’s often around things that are absolutely black and white.
I see Christian leaders getting together with leaders of other religions, to discuss things they have in common. Maybe Jesus isn’t the only way. Maybe all these different religions do indeed worship the same God.
Can I tell you something? A passionate, life-changing faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, this thing that we call Christianity, has absolutely nothing whatsoever in common with any other religion or belief system.
Because we believe in Jesus Christ and Him alone. We believe that the only way to God the Father, is through faith in Jesus, the Son of God, who died on that Cross to pay for our sin and rose again to give us eternal life. That’s the central message of Christianity. Let’s get it straight. It has nothing, nothing in common with any other religion.
So, when people come along and start to muddy the waters – don’t be fooled. Don’t be led astray.
Jesus put it like this:
Matthew 24:5 Many people will come and use my name. They will say, ‘I am the Messiah.’ And they will fool many people.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thankyou for sharing these devotionals with me, for preachimg the truth and holding to it, relationship with Jesus, trusting in His finished work on the cross. Is my only hope and prayer, not wavering in my faith, no matter how tuff things get in my life, and they have been very very hard the past few years. Jesus is my Rock.
