Eternity 101

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (ESV)

So what keeps you going through the incessant daily grind of life; through the tough patches that come your way on such a regular basis? What are you looking forward to? What’s your hope for the future?

As interminably long as the days may feel sometimes, in reality we’re nothing more than interlopers on this earth. As we plug away at life, as each day rolls past, our bodies are ageing, working their way into the grave.

Don’t get me wrong – I enjoy my life and I pray that you do too. But there always seem to be struggles, don’t there? So given where you’re at on your journey, what’s the hope for your future that keeps you going? From his place of severe affliction, the Apostle Paul tells us his:

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (ESV)

The thing that kept Paul going through it all? The certain knowledge that the unseen, the eternal, will one day be his. Friend, Jesus came for you. He died and rose again for you. Believe in Him with all that you are … and know this – that the eternal weight of glory that awaits you is beyond anything you can imagine. Keep going.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
