Get Your House in Order

1 Peter 1:13 So prepare your minds for service. With complete self-control put all your hope in the grace that will be yours when Jesus Christ comes.

It’s funny how we’re prepared to make sacrifices in life to achieve the goals that we want to achieve, but then, when following Jesus, when serving Him involves sacrifice, we become all disheartened and so life just drifts along.

There’s not a single thing that I’ve achieved in my life without being focussed. I’m sure you’re the same. If you want to, say, lose weight – you have to focus on what you eat. If you want to get fit, you have to focus on your exercise. If you want to graduate from school or university, you have to focus on your studies.

If you want to play the piano … you’re getting the picture, right? And as surely as night follows day, there’s no focus, without sacrifice.

If you set out to achieve anything, you’re going to have to sacrifice something. It’s true in every area of our lives. And it’s equally true when it comes to living a life of victory, in Jesus Christ.

Being a disciple of Jesus’ involves focus and sacrifice. Lose that and discipline flies out the window. You wander through life, falling prey to every temptation and living out the consequences.

1 Peter 1:13 So prepare your minds for service. With complete self-control put all your hope in the grace that will be yours when Jesus Christ comes.

So, if your life just at the moment isn’t all that you’d hoped it would be, it’s time to get your house in order. Prepare your mind for service. Get focussed on what really matters. Make the sacrifices that you need to make, to get your life back on track.

The moment you do, Jesus will do everything in His power to help you get it together.

Prepare your mind for service. Get your house in order.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

It’s so true. I have a mental health issue but I have found that the more you focus on the Lord and his word there is a freedom and liberty. There will always be a cost but the prize is so worth and amazing. Truly there is power in the name of Jesus and it can’t be refuted.
