God’s Mercy

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has great mercy, and because of his mercy he gave us a new life. This new life brings us a living hope through Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death.

I am utterly convinced that we can never ever spend too much thinking about and talking about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, because the fact that Jesus rose from death changes absolutely everything!

Sadly, most people spend way too little time contemplating Jesus’ resurrection, and then they wonder why the reality of their life seems so untethered from their faith in Him; why things feel so hopeless.

Now I get it … we get up each day, do what we do, and though you can believe in Jesus, in His death, in His resurrection … it all seems so distant from the stuff that fills our waking hours day after day.

So, in case you’re feeling that disconnect between your faith on the one hand and the realities of life on the other, drink this in:

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has great mercy, and because of his mercy he gave us a new life. This new life brings us a living hope through Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death.

The point of connection between the resurrection of Jesus over two thousand years ago and the high tech, fast paced life that we’re living today is that, through His mercy, He’s given us a new life!

Listen to me. We’re not meant to be living our old life of sin and self, but a new life of sacrifice and suffering, yes … but also a life of glory, of joy, of peace, and of power. And … this new life brings us a living hope through Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death.

Christ is risen! And so are you!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
