Colossians 3:10 Now you are wearing a new life, a life that is new every day. You are growing in your understanding of the one who made you. You are becoming more and more like him.

Some people think of Christianity as a religion. Fair enough. But the reality is that a personal encounter with Jesus is more, so much more, than that.

The other day, my wife’s mobile phone died. So, I reset it and restored it from the backup and just as it was meant to, the download from the cloud completely reinstalled the phone’s operating system, the application software, all her data, phone numbers, music, photos … the whole lot. When I turned it on, everything was there.

Now, as someone who spent over two decades in the IT industry, I have to tell you, I was seriously impressed. It was so slick. The backup and recovery actually worked, just like it was supposed to.

I remember some joker telling me a few years ago that we are made in the image of God. And that, when we put our trust in Jesus, when we kind of plug our lives into His life, He restores us back into that original image, the image of God – just as we were always meant to be.

“What a load of rubbish! There’s nothing wrong with my life”, until it blew up in my face. That’s when I came to faith, that’s when I believed. That’s when I, in effect, plugged my life into Jesus.

And something began to happen. I began to change, without really thinking too much about it. I had more peace, more joy, less worry. You know, it actually works, just the way it’s supposed to. I was shocked, still am.

Now you are wearing a new life, a life that is new every day. You are growing in your understanding of the one who made you. You are becoming more and more like him. (Colossians 3:10)

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
