Holy Spirit Power

Ephesians 1:17-19 I pray that God will open your minds to see his truth. Then you will know … that God’s power is very great for us who believe. It is the same as the mighty power he used to raise Christ from death and put him at his right side in the heavenly places.

None of us like to admit that we’re powerless. But in some situations, under some circumstances, that’s exactly what we are. So when you’re in that place, how do you lay hold of the power that you need.

We image sometimes that we’re alone in struggling through whatever it is that we’re struggling with. And yet, there’s a fairly standard list of things that people struggle with. Take for instance the top ten new year’s resolutions that people make:

(1) Lose weight (2) Get organised (3) Spend less, save more (4) Enjoy life to the fullest (5) Stay fit and healthy (6) Learn something exciting (7) Quit smoking (8) Help others with their dreams (9) Fall in love (10) Spend more time with my family.

It’s almost exactly six months since people went through that exercise. Maybe you recognise one or two of those from back in January as well. So, how are you getting on? The reality is that just days into each new year, 99 percent of new year’s resolutions are broken. It seems that people are powerless to change. Change is really hard. What we need is power.

And that’s exactly the sort of power that Jesus came to give you. To crash through things that you – in and of yourself – are completely powerless to change.

Ephesians 1:18-20 I pray that God will open your minds to see his truth. Then you will know … that God’s power is very great for us who believe. It is the same as the mighty power he used to raise Christ from death and put him at his right side in the heavenly places.

Holy Spirit Power. Resurrection power. The power to overcome. If you believe in Jesus, you’ve already received it! So stop asking for more power and start praying with the power you already have.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
