Imagine a World Without Love

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 I may speak in different languages, whether human or even of angels. But if I don’t have love, I am only a noisy bell or a ringing cymbal. I may have the gift of prophecy, I may understand all secrets and know everything there is to know, and I may have faith so great that I can move mountains. But even with all this, if I don’t have love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have to help others, and I may even give my body as an offering to be burned. But I gain nothing by doing all this if I don’t have love.

Imagine with me if you can, a world without love. Terrible isn’t it? But for many, it doesn’t take a lot of imagining because their lives are devoid of love.

Sadly, there are countless people in our world today whose most basic need of being loved is going unmet. Why? Because they’re surrounded by people who don’t love them. They’re surrounded by people who are so intent on going about their own business, whatever that may be, so focussed on meeting their own goals, good and bad, that they don’t have anything to spare for others.

I know. I used to be one of those loveless people so focussed on myself that I didn’t show any love to those around me, to their detriment and to my ruin. And in God’s eyes, it doesn’t matter how good your goals are or how successful you are at attaining, they’re completely worthless without love.

In a world that is, for so many, devoid of love, make the time to love them.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
