It’s a Struggle

Luke 23:42-43 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you begin ruling as king!" Then Jesus said to him, "I promise you, today you will be with me in paradise."

When is the right time to give your life wholly and solely to Jesus? Is it today, tomorrow, the next day? When will it be too late?

One day, it will be too late to put your trust in Jesus. That’s the conclusion that one of the criminals crucified next to Jesus came to, although he was cutting it a bit fine, you’d have thought:

Luke 23:42-43 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you begin ruling as king!” Then Jesus said to him, “I promise you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

No fancy prayer from this man nailed to a cross, just a simple step of faith:

Father God you know for a long time I’ve been torn. I know you’re there, I know you’re good, I know that it makes complete sense to give my life to you. But something’s holding me back. It’s not that I don’t believe in Jesus. I do! It’s not that I don’t want You. I do!

It’s just that … I’m afraid. Well maybe afraid isn’t the right word. You know those things in my life that aren’t what you want for me. You know them … and I know them … and I’m afraid of giving them up. That probably sounds silly to you God … You gave up Jesus for me.

But it’s just how I feel. I’m torn. I’m struggling. And there’s only one thing I know how to do.

Can you please help me? Can you take me just as I am and help me? Will you take the fear away? Will you take the … the sin away? Isn’t that why Jesus came?

You don’t have to have it all together, to put your trust in Jesus. Just do it.
