It’s Not About Money Dummy

1 Timothy 6:10 The love of money causes all kinds of evil. Some people have turned away from what we believe because they want to get more and more money. But they have caused themselves a lot of pain and sorrow.

Money is, I think, one of the most seductive commodities on planet earth. And chasing after it, well, it causes many people a lot of pain.

Money, Money, Money – remember that old Abba song? Most people think to themselves, “If only I had just a bit more money, then I’d be happy. Just ten percent more would make all the difference.”

But actually, it’s just not true. There’s not one of us that doesn’t know, deep down, that money doesn’t make you happy. We know that, right? And yet we still live our lives as though it does.

How many people do you know who commute long distances and work incredibly long hours – missing out on time with their family and time for rest – just to chase that higher salary; just to have that ten percent more?

And for what? So that that they can live in a bigger house, with rooms they never use? Or drive an expensive car? Or own a holiday home? Or buy … whatever? Does that really make them happy?

With monotonous regularity we hear on the news that yet another rich and famous person has taken their own life or died of a drug overdose. Remember, they’re rich and famous. They have all the wealth that so many of us aspire to. And yet, look where they ended up.

Money doesn’t make you happy. So, here’s a wakeup call for you.
