Keep Praying

Luke 18:6-8 The Lord said, “Listen, there is meaning in what the bad judge said. God’s people shout to him night and day, and he will always give them what is right. He will not be slow to answer them. I tell you, God will help his people quickly.

Do you ever feel as though the answers you need just aren’t coming, that the breakthrough you so desperately need is being withheld, that God either isn’t listening or doesn’t care? Well today, Jesus Himself has an important lesson for you right when you’re in that place.

Jesus taught His disciples that they should always pray and never lose hope. He used this story to make His point:

There was once a judge who didn’t care about God or what others thought of him. So this widow comes to him over and over, saying ‘There’s a man who’s doing bad things to me. Give me my rights!’ But the judge refuses to help her.

So she keeps on pestering him, on and on, until finally he thinks to himself, ‘I don’t care about God or what people think. But this woman is seriously bothering me. If I give her what she wants, she’ll leave me alone. If I don’t, she’ll bother me until I’m sick.’

What an incredibly odd way to teach His disciples about hope. Turns out though, He’s using the negative to make a powerful, positive point:

Luke 18:6-8 The Lord said, “Listen, there is meaning in what the bad judge said. God’s people shout to him night and day, and he will always give them what is right. He will not be slow to answer them. I tell you, God will help his people quickly.

What Jesus is trying to teach us here is that even when our circumstances seem stacked against us, we should be persistent in prayer.

Keep praying, never lose hope. God will give you what’s right. He will help you … quickly!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
