Keep Telling Your Story

John 4:39-42 Many of the Samaritan people in that town believed in Jesus. They believed because of what the woman had told them about him. She had told them, “He told me everything I have ever done.” The Samaritans went to Jesus. They begged him to stay with them. So he stayed there two days. Many more people became believers because of the things he said. The people said to the woman, “First we believed in Jesus because of what you told us. But now we believe because we heard him ourselves. We know now that he really is the one who will save the world.”

The research tells us that a person is at least five times more likely to purchase something based on the recommendation of a friend, as they are in response to even the glitziest of advertisements.

I had rather a dramatic conversion. My first wife had left me for one of my best friends, I was standing on an 8th floor hotel balcony contemplating taking my own life, and yet I’d been reading a Gideon Bible the night before.

Through what I read, Jesus somehow guided me inside, I knelt down by the bed and prayed, “Lord if you’re out there, now would be a good time.” That’s all I had and as things turned out, that’s all it took. Here we are, you and I, together today.

People can argue with my theology, they can argue against my understanding of God, they can rile against me declaring that Jesus is the only way to the Father, but they cannot argue with my story, because, well, it’s my story, right?

Her story of how Jesus touched her life brought many to His feet. And when they encountered Him, they believed in Him.
