Let Humility Win

Philippians 2:5-8 In your life together, think the way Christ Jesus thought. He was like God in every way, but he did not think that his being equal with God was something to use for his own benefit. Instead, he gave up everything, even his place with God. He accepted the role of a servant, appearing in human form. During his life as a man, he humbled himself by being fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death–death on a cross.

People seem obsessed with being noticed – climbing higher, getting ahead, standing out. But the higher you climb, the more tempting it is to forget who lifted you up. Truth: in God’s kingdom, greatness doesn’t rise – it bows.

In 1970, Japanese engineer Soichiro Honda, founder of Honda Motor Company, was offered a prestigious government medal for industrial achievement. But contrary to everyone’s expectations, he declined it, saying, “I didn’t build this company – my workers did.”

His humility shocked officials, buta made the world sit up and listen. True greatness doesn’t strut. It bows.

Just think about that – the eternal Son of God, the One through whom all things were created, stepped down into our dust. Not arriving with a crown but with calloused hands. Not demanding service – but washing feet.

Humility is the soil where Christ’s likeness flourishes. It’s where love deepens, pride dies, grace takes root. So, before chasing recognition, ask yourself – where can I go lower today? Whom can I honour quietly? Whose burden might I lift?

Because the more you bow into humility, the more you’ll find yourself face to face with Jesus. And that’s the only place true greatness flourishes.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
