Life’s Little Distractions

Isaiah 48:12 … listen to me! Israel, I called you to be my people. So listen to me! I am the Beginning, and I am the End.

Have you ever found yourself at the point where it feels as though you’ve somehow misplaced God amidst all the busyness of life? You love Him, you believe in Jesus, but somehow, God seems to have disappeared in a puff of smoke.

There are just so many distractions in life these days; emails, phone calls, shopping, television, running the children here and there … so many demands on our time. We kid ourselves that things’ll slow down eventually, but they never do. And whilst none of those are bad in and of themselves, collectively, they’re killing us.

So you turn around one day and think, “What’s this all about? Where’s it all heading? And where’s my God in all of this?”

Good questions. God once said this,

Isaiah 48:12 … listen to me! Israel, I called you to be my people. So listen to me! I am the Beginning, and I am the End.

The Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last. That’s big. Really … big. In fact, when you look at it that way, all those other things become so small.

Now here it is again, God crying out to His people … “listen to me … so listen to me,” He says. Stop running around in circles for just a minute, get still and listen.

I called you to be my people. Friend, you belong to God. I am the Beginning and I am the End. And right there is the bit that you and I need to hear, to lift our gaze, to look at all this minutia that’s controlling our lives from an eternal perspective. Because when we do, everything else falls into its rightful place.

Don’t let the accumulation of life’s little distractions tear you away from the main game. Listen to Him.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
