More Grace Than We Can Ever Imagine

Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. (NRSV)

The more time you spend looking at and thinking about the grace of God, the more life-changing it becomes. And I strongly suspect that that’s the whole point. God’s grace is meant to radically transform our lives!

That’s what we’ve been doing this past week and a half together –  wrapping our hearts around the life-transforming grace of God poured out on us when we believe in all that Jesus did for us.

(NRSV)

Yes … already blessed with every spiritual blessing through Jesus. Yes … chosen before the foundation of the world to have our sins wiped away, and to live a holy and blameless life on our journey towards our eternity in His Presence. But look at that last bit again …

He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

You and I, we were destined to be adopted as His kids through His glorious grace that He lavished upon us. Grace upon grace.

You and I should be dead in our sin. Instead we’re alive in Christ. If that’s not absolutely life-changing, I don’t know what is.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
