Near and Far

Psalm 73:27,28 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. (ESV)

Electric vehicles are becoming all the rage. Fine, but having experienced the mild panic of my mobile phone potentially running out of battery, I have to say I’m a tad wary. How about you?

Of course, running out of charge in an EV is no different to running out of petrol in a conventional vehicle. They both come down to the same unavoidable fact: if you stray too far and for too long from your source of power, you’re going to come to a dead stop.

The same’s true in life. Yesterday, we chatted about the fact that as we mature we become less reliant on ourselves, as we grow in awareness of our own weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Our flesh and our heart will fail, but God can become the strength of our heart and our portion forever.

Good news. Great news. But not if you stray too far for too long:

Psalm 73:27,28 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

Too many who profess some sort of faith in God stray too far and for too long from God Himself. Perhaps you relate to that. If so, then know this. Those who are far from Him will perish as they grow in their unfaithfulness.

But for me it’s good to be near God; I’ve made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all His works.

Draw close to God. Don’t go astray.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
